Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago was announced the winner of the 2012 “Best Hotel Design” award in the Midscale/Upscale category at the 32nd annual Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design. Nearly 200 projects in 23 countries were considered for the awards, which celebrate the design firms behind the most innovative hospitality properties completed or renovated within the past 18 months. The Gold Key Awards are sponsored by Hospitality Style magazine and HOTELS magazines and coincided with the 97th annual IHMRS. Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago has also been recognized as a 2012 Fodor’s Choice selection, given to “only those offering a truly remarkable experience.
The 2012 Fodor’s Choice recipients are the best of the best, providing a remarkable experience in their price range or category.” Within its first year, the Radisson Blu Aqua has also been given the Silver Award in Hospitality at Travel Weekly’s 2012 Magellan Awards, the 2012 Design Award from Lodging Hospitality magazine, being included on Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List and being named one of “11 New Hotel Wonders” by CNN, Budget Travel, and MSNBC. It was a Development of the Year finalist at the 2012 American Lodging Investment Summit, and is currently a pending finalist in Cintas’ 2012 America’s Best Restroom Awards, which will announce the winner in late November.
