While Maui offers some of the most luxurious hotels in Hawaii, impeccable weather, gorgeous sunsets and beautiful sandy beaches, the island is a hot spot for haunts that parallel battle sites and centuries-old buildings. The following haunted locations in Maui are sure to entice spirit hunters and curious individuals alike. A fair warning, however, these places are not for the faint of heart, except maybe for Giggle Hill.
Giggle Hill - One of the least scary haunted locations in the world, this area is aptly named for the giggles of young women that can be heard by visitors going near the top of the hill.
The Iao Theater - At Makawow, this theater is reported to be haunted by spirits who frequent the dressing rooms. Feelings of being watched, doors slamming themselves, foreign smells and items moving themselves are part of the norm at this location.
Paia - A Virgin Mary statue has been reported to be seen here. The problem is, there is no statue in the area that it has been spotted. Oh, did I mention that while the body of the statue remains perfectly still the head will turn and gaze at those nearby?
Wailea Coastline - Possibly the same spirit that makes up the Paia Virgin Mary statue, a lone female figure drifts around the coastline and, when she sees anyone who can see her presence, she stops cold and stares the person down until they leave the area altogether.
