January 31, 2014 marks the Chinese New Year and InterContinental Hong Kong wants to make sure guests get a truly authentic experience while ringing in the Year of the Horse. Customized culinary offerings at the hotel’s award-winning restaurants and special spa treatments for two at the luxurious I-Spa will be available throughout February.
Chinese New Year Spectacular
Renowned for its beautiful waterfront location on Victoria Harbor, InterContinental Hong Kong provides the perfect spot to watch the dazzling Lunar New Year fireworks display. From the comfort of your guest room or a table in one of the three Michelin-starred restaurants, you’ll have a front row seat to the vibrant show with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout.
Exclusive new menus will also be on offer including Yan Toh Heen’s eight-course Cantonese Firework Dinner featuring Golden Lobster with Spicy Salt and Barbecued Suckling Pig, and Double Boiled Sea Cucumber with Fish Maw, all served with Tribute Ti Kuan Yin tea for around USD $295 per person; and the six-course Fireworks menu from SPOON by Alain Ducasse featuring Spicy Langoustine Soup, Steamed Goose Foie Gras, and Chocolate Palet for dessert, starting at around USD $269 per person and an additional USD $153 per person for wine pairings.
Cooking with the Culinary Stars
Each year InterContinental Hong Kong allows guests to work side-by-side with their celebrated chefs to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes of their award-winning dining venues. Learn modern and classic cooking techniques, and even secrets to the success of their signature and seasonal dishes. Classes cover French, Japanese, Cantonese and American cuisine, with lunch and wine pairings at the end to taste and toast the day’s efforts.
Joining the hotel’s “Baking Club” also means being able to watch demonstrations on dessert and cake-making by SPOON’s Pastry Chef Jerome Husson and InterContinental Hong Kong’s Executive Pastry Chef Cyril Dupuis. Classes run 2-3 hours on Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for approximately USD $243 per person. All in attendance will go home with an official certificate, a Baking Club apron, a pastry equipment set, and recipes from the chefs themselves.

Conveniently coinciding with Valentine’s Day is I-Spa’s Romantic Indulgence for Two Package, bookable through the month of February. Spend a full day with the one you love at the hotel’s feng shui focused spa for relaxing experiences sure to make you feel like new in the New Year.
