Hotel Overview
Set in nine landscaped acres within a private estate, Jnane Tamsna offers a total of 24 ensuite bedrooms spread over three properties: Jnane House, Jnane Moussafir and Jnane Salmia. There are two large and two small meeting rooms as well as numerous sitting rooms, dining areas and outdoor spaces. The grounds feature five pools, a clay surface tennis court, a hammam (Moroccan steam bath) and treatment rooms for massage and beauty therapy.
Jnane Tamsna adopts a minimalist approach to Oriental splendour. Elements of traditional Moroccan style and colour have been adapted to achieve a peaceful, contemporary look. The cuisine is a fusion of Moroccan and modern European, using local produce sourced wherever possible from Jnane Tamsna's organic gardens.
From individual rooms to exclusive villa rental, Jnane Tamsna offers a rare flexibility. As a private or corporate venue, it blends the large capacity usually only offered by hotels and the absolute intimacy, first-class food and fine service of the best private homes.
Accommodations
Jnane House
Jnane House, with a total of ten bedrooms, combines the architecture and layout of the traditional 'ryad' (courtyard house) with the spaciousness of a country home. The first courtyard gives access to comfortable, intimate living and dining rooms. There are six bedrooms on the garden level, four of them around a second courtyard, and an additional four bedrooms on the upper-level, opposite a wide roof terrace. Two further private rooms are available in Dar Ylane, a separate house a short walk away. The grounds, which comprise extensive gardens and two large pools, offer numerous alcoves for discreet private dining.
Jnane Moussafir
Jnane Moussafir is a journey from West Africa to Northern India, inspired by the variety of Islamic art and design.
The five suites: African, Casablanca, Calligraphy, Persian and Indian, are large and air conditioned, with fireplaces and walk-in closets. Casablanca and Calligraphy, with their spacious common veranda, are ideal for two couples or a family. They all have private north and south verandas overlooking an exclusive garden, as well as access to their own roof terraces. Each bathroom has a fireplace, bathtub and two sinks, with an independent shower and WC. The suites can be equipped with television, DVD and CD player upon request.
Jnane Villa
Jnane Villa, the most recent addition to the Jnane estate, has a lush red foyer and an elegant swimming pool. Situated in its own private Mediterranean gardens, it offers five large en-suite bedrooms with open fireplaces. Downstairs there is a large dining room, a light and airy breakfast room and a living area with library, fireplace and veranda.
In a separate garden, the Jnane Villa Pavilion has two suites with fireplaces, sitting room and outdoor dining area, as well as its own pool surrounded by lavender and olive trees.
Dining
Food is a highlight of Jnane Tamsna. We believe meals should be a sensual experience, as appetising to look at as to taste. We use fresh, organic ingredients sourced where possible from our own gardens. Dishes are Moroccan with a twist, combining the succulence and spice of North African cusine with the lightness of contemporary Mediterranean cookery.
We offer individual cookery classes with our house chef Bahija. You can learn how to make dishes like B'stilla, the classic Moroccan savory pastry, of Fish and Preserved Lemon; Lamb Tagine with Tomatoes and Caramelized Spring Onions; Roasted Pepper, Cucumber and Tomato Salad; and Spiced Pears with Oranges and Caramel Sauce. As you chop, roast and grind herbs and spices, Bahija will tell you about the central role of food in Moroccan culture.
