Robert de Niro's 88 room luxury hotel in the TriBeCa neighborhood of downtown Manhattan, features Shibui Spa, pool, and Locanda Verde restaurant.
The Greenwich has 88 rooms and suites, of which no two are alike. Furnishings draw from a wide range of cultural influences, from hand-loomed, Tibetan silk rugs to English leather settees. All beds are Duxiana from Sweden. Bathrooms are designed in unique patterns of hand-laid Moroccan tile or Italian Carrara marble. Modern technology complements the hotel's old-world charm. Rooms feature high-definition flat screen TVs, iPod docking stations, and complimentary wireless internet. DVD players, laptop computers, faxes, and pre-loaded iPods are available upon request. Pet-friendly rooms are available upon request at no additional charge.
Locanda Verde is an affordable, casual neighborhood Italian tavern in TriBeCa serving Andrew Carmellini's Italian cooking. The dining room has shelves of wine and books, comfy banquets, wooden tables, and a view of the wood-burning oven and the open kitchen. During the summer, Locanda Verde has outdoor café seating on Greenwich Street's broad sidewalks.
Andrew's food at Locanda Verde is as casual and easy-going as the space. The menu features, for instance, Lamb Meatball Sliders with Caprino and Cucumber; Porchetta de la Casa with Black Kale; and Gigatone ala Pescatora with Shrimp Meatballs. Karen DeMasco, one of the city's best pastry chefs is in charge of breads, pastries and desserts. Her menu includes Spumoni alla Napoletana with Cherries; toasted Amond Semi-Freddo; handmade gelati and sorbetti. The wine list features reasonably priced bottles from every region in Italy; and, of course, Locanda Verde offers Moretti and other specialty Italian beers on tap.
Shibui Spa is a space for guests of the Greenwich Hotel to unwind, cleanse body and mind, and heal. Their philosophy is one of balance - balance between the traditional and the modern and between nature and the city. The Japanese word "shibui" has no exact translation into English but it refers to a beauty that is low-key and yet rich. The same may be said of the Shibui experience. It is luxurious and uncomplicated. There is a stillness to it. In this stillness, a certain quality of holistic health can become apparent. |
