| Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was planned in 1682 by William Penn, a Quaker whose vision was a city based on freedom and religious tolerance. Philadelphia, which means Brotherly Love in Greek, became one of the most politically and socially important cities of its day and is now the second-largest city on the East Coast. The Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution were drafted here; in 1876 the city hosted the Centennial Exposition and in 1985, the Live Aid Benefit rocked the world from JFK Stadium.
