Hotel Overview
The Taj Lake Palace, located in the middle of Lake Pichola is a dream of white marble and mosaic glistening in the moonlight, very reminiscent of the most beautiful tourist cliché in the world; the Taj Mahal. Conceived in romance, the palace was built in 1746 by Maharana Jagat Singh II, 62nd successor to the royal dynasty of Mewar - believed to be descendants of the Sun God.
Accommodations
Sandhya or evening, a time suggestive of beauty and beauty and tranquility is embellished in rich emerald green and royal blue. The suite is perfect for savoring sunsets that are always special by the side of the shimmering waters of Lake Pichola and the spectacular Aravalli mountains. The softened sunrays, slipping in through aquamarine window panes, light the ornate antique gilt furniture casting a magical ambience in the room. Basant Bahar, inspired by the spirit of the season of spring, is a luxurious suite. With a silk canopy over the decorative four poster bed, silk furnishings, rich carpet, miniature paintings and inlaid furniture, the suite offers a heady regal ambience as well as the ethereal beauty of spring. The suite also has scenic views of the lake and Jagmandir, the neighboring island palace.
Rang Mahal as the name suggests is suffused with color. The bright and cheerful colors of the embellishments infuse the suite with joie de vivre. Created in one of the oldest parts of the palace, this lovely one beded suite having a treatment room and its own private Jacuzzi, charmingly set in two levels offers scenic views and of Jagmandir, the neighboring island palace.
Dining
Bhairo
With stunning views of a City Palace and mesmerizing sunsets, this spacious 20 cover restaurant emanates a very relaxed and romantic ambience. Inspired by Jean Georges Vongerichten, the restaurant offers Asian cuisine with a western twist. Flavor is lent through infused olive oil as well as rubs and marinades created by blending Asian herbs and spices. Highlights of the menu include exotic seafood & meats such as soft-shelled crabs, Canadian Wild salmon, Halibut, Cod, Australian Lamb, King Scallops, Chilean Sea Bass, Manali Trout, Kochi Lobster, Japanese Quails and Muscovy Duck. Vegetarian specialties include a variety of fresh mushrooms, tofu, white asparagus, sugar snap peas and kalian.
Neel Kamal
Classical Indian instrumental music sets the mood for romantic, inspired dining at this luxurious restaurant. Wood-fired cooking and a show kitchen add to the intensity of the atmosphere. Signature features include a large selection of local Rajasthani specialties and an extensive selection of fine wines from around the world.
Spa
Jiva Spa at Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur offers a Royal Spa experience to its guests. The treatments suites are endowed with heritage frescos on the walls all evocative of the sensuous and romantic Rajasthani Royal leitmotif. Opulent silks, richly coloured murals, and ornately carved wood furniture are just a few of the design details that cloak guests in exotic mystique.
