Hotel Overview
The Balboa Bay Club & Resort is set against a stunning California Gold Coast backdrop
complete with million-dollar yachts and spectacular bay views. The $65 million luxury resort
opened to the public in the spring of 2003 and is the only full-service waterfront hotel in
Newport Beach. Reminiscent of an Italian villa, it epitomizes the ideal coastal retreat.
This world-class destination situated on 15 prime acres has a rich heritage, having
attracted Hollywood's elite as well as upscale travelers, honeymooners, and business executives.
The 160-room hotel built on three levels shares the same bay-front address as the private 57-
year-old Balboa Bay Club, whose star-studded guest register bears the signatures of luminaries
including John Wayne, Ronald and Nancy Reagan, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Natalie
Wood, and many more.
Accomodations:
Luxurious guestrooms designed with a residential flair combine a
casual mix of light and dark wood furnishings. Tropical-patterned
drapes complement plantation shutters which lead to generous
patios overlooking the courtyard or bay.
Bathrooms are appointed with dual sinks featuring granite
countertops, marble baths and flooring, and picture-window-sized
beveled-glass mirrors.
Sumptuous down-filled duvets and over-sized pillows in crisp
white shams adorn comfortable pillow-top beds.
Casually elegant suites are spacious and include fireplaces. The
Presidential Suite includes a grand piano, formal dining for ten,
and a comfortable living area bridged by a dual fireplace.
Dining:
Public restaurants and lounges include The First Cabin waterfront
dining room with alfresco seating; it's a DiRoNA Award winner
offering innovative California cuisine with a continental flair for
breakfast, lunch and dinner; Duke's Place, a bar and entertainment
lounge; Library Lounge for cocktails, snacks and afternoon tea.
Spa:
The 17,000-square-foot spa located in the members' clubhouse is
open to guests of the Resort.
The spa features men's and women's relaxation lounges with
inviting fireplaces and cozy seating areas. A comprehensive
relaxation program includes a sauna, whirlpool and inhalation
steam room. The facilities house nine rooms for massages, skin
care and hydrotherapy treatments inspired by the spectacular
