Hotel Overview
Ever since the inauguration of the Grand Hôtel in 1874, this has been the given place to stay, both for Swedes and cosmopolites from all over the world.
Accommodations
Its splendid location, opposite the Royal Palace by the water, and its elegant interiors and superior cuisine, appeals to everyone who appreciates the good things in life, big and small. Today, including the new extension, the hotel boasts 368 exclusive rooms out of which 37 are exquisite suites.
Princess Lilian's Suite is something above the rest. The interior has been inspired by Art Deco and nothing has been spared in order to create a beautiful experience in a league of its own.
The suite includes two spacious bedrooms; one in a warm Oriental colour scheme, the other in Scandinavian blue with nuances of grey. There is also a private cinema within the suite, with room for 12 people and equipped with special wooden panels to ensure optimal acoustics. There is even a fully equipped kitchen for those who wish to have a private lunch or dinner served in the suite.
The library with all the office facilities you could ask for opens up to the spacious living room. There is comfortable lounge furniture, a grand piano, a large dining table and a bar. The two balconies offer an astounding view over the Royal Palace, the water and all corners of the city.
The relax area, lit in a very pleasant way, has a roomy mosaic bath where the water flows freely onto the granite base. There are massage showers, a waterfall and classic wicker chairs to relax in. The especially designed scenario sauna offers light-, sound and aroma therapy.
Dining
The restaurant Veranda at Grand Hôtel is a popular meeting-place in Stockholm. Here, the hotel's guests, passing tourists and Stockholmers eat and socialize while enjoying a wonderful view over the harbour, Old Town and Royal Palace.
The Veranda serves Swedish traditional food in a contemporary fashion and is celebrated not just for its views but also for the ever-popular Smörgåsbord.
Health Club
The health club is run by Sturebadet, which for over a hundred years has been one of Stockholm's most famous gymnasia. The exclusive and modern health club has a relaxation lounge, the latest exercise & fitness equipment and a café. It is a good place to round off an action packed day, or to prepare for one.
There's a small café serving light and healthy meals throughout the day, so why not enjoy breakfast after your workout. Breakfast is served 6 am - 10 am. The gym has been renovated with new lighting, a new floor, and several new exercise machines have been added.
The relaxation lounge with deck chairs is ideal for catching your breath and unwinding in an unhurried atmosphere. Calming music and massage are available as are treatments for the face, hands and feet. Naprapathy as well as various spa-cures are also available. So why not trade the nap in your room for a treatment? You will be renewed, revitalised and refreshed! All treatments are available for both men and women and times are of your choosing. Some treatments are also offered in the comfort of your room.
Meetings & Events
No meeting is too big or too small to be held at the Grand Hôtel. They have premises and service to suit anything from two to 800 participants. They always try really hard to answer to the needs of everyone and go out of their way to ensure that every detail is as perfect as possible.
Four new meeting premises has been inaugurated. The four new meeting rooms have been named after the artist Vicke Andrén's famous and allegoric painting, where different capitals in the world have been portrayed as antique Gods and Goddesses in the ceiling of Spegelsalen.
The rooms have been designed by one of Sweden's leading architects offices, White Arkitekter, and has an international atmosphere, making them an excellent complement to the more classical rooms at the hotel.
