The Mauna Lani Spa
The Mauna Lani Spa, a uniquely Hawaiian haven that glides you towards relaxation and fulfillment, consists of 25,000 square feet of indoor space and approximately 15,000 square feet of outdoor treatment space. The resort spa includes 17 treatment areas; eight indoor and nine unique outdoor hale (thatched huts), a naturally heated lava rock sauna, a one of kind Aquatic Body Therapy facility and a relaxation hale (hut) situated in our La'au (healing) Garden. Unique private meeting group sessions and meeting events can be pre-arranged at the Mauna Lani Spa. Our heavenly mountain with the power of the volcano and its snow-capped crater is known as the land of fire and ice.
A lava rock sauna (enhanced with aromatherapy), a fragrant herb garden and a relaxation pavillion dot the landscape. Surrounding it all is a simulation of the 16th Century Kaniku lava flow, which provides a stark, moon-like context to the lush tranquility of the spa grounds.
The ancient appeal of "Fire & Ice" summons as you gather with others to experience our Lava Sauna. As you step into this open-air sauna, feel the warm 'ili'ili stones under your feet. From the earth, we have taken black clay that helps smooth the skin while drawing impurities from the body. While the heat of the sun-warmed sauna relaxes you, we encourage you to find a quiet calm within as you allow the mud to dry.
When the mud has dried, and the stress has dissipated, you will be guided to a private shower where you will rinse and re-moisturize your skin with our signature body oil. This ritual concludes as you meditate in Hale Nahenahe (house of gentle sounds) in our La'au (healing) Garden, perfect for your luxury spa vacation.
