Best Places to Stay in Wailea, Maui

West Maui is comprised of several regions that each offer a unique experience for the tourist. There is the award-winning beach in Kaanapali and the world-famous surf of Honolua Bay. There is the culturally-rich resort community of Kapalua and the historical whaling village known as Lahaina. And of course there is Wailea, an upscale community of crescent-shaped beaches, championship golf courses, as well as some of the best places to stay in Maui.

Luxury hotels and resorts on Wailea cater to the avid golfer by offering easy access to the area’s three championship golf courses.
  • Wailea Emerald - Known for its sheer beauty and noted as one of the country's most female-friendly courses.
  • Wailea Gold - Regarded as the most challenging, with 93 bunkers and meanders amid lava beds and ancient lava walls. One-time host to the Champions Skins Game, a famous 2004 quartet included Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino and Tom Watson.
  • Old Blue - Flowing design and generous fairways - it's the most traditional of the trio.
