With the holiday season in full swing, traveling to see friends and family is an impending event. And recently a list showing the top ten destinations Canadians (in particular) will be heading to for their winter vacations just emerged. Offering great deals and reduced prices, U.S. cities like Las Vegas and San Francisco will be visited by our neighbors to the north, and those staying domestic will end up in Montreal and Vancouver among others. The balmy weather and family-oriented activities have put Orlando at the top of the list followed by New York City and Toronto.

"Over the past year we've seen U.S. cities grow in popularity, topping Thanksgiving's most popular destination list as well, so it's no surprise to see the trend continue for the December holidays," said Vice President of the Hotwire Group, Pierre-Etienne Chartier. "Many of these over-the-border destinations offer plenty of family friendly activities and warmer weather — pair that with deep discounts, and we certainly expect this trend to continue into the New Year."

Vancouver is up to the fifth spot from seventh last year, offering guests an average room rate of $92 a night. New to the list are Ottawa, which has a $100 nightly rate, and Los Angeles, with its alluring sunshine and sightseeing opportunities.
