With all the exciting events taking place in London over the last few years, it’s no surprise they’re seeing record-breaking tourist numbers. From the 2012 Olympic Games to Andy Murray's Wimbledon win to the birth of Prince George, interest in this already popular capital city just continues to rise, with 4.9 million visitors between July and September 2013 alone, according to figures recently released by the Office for National Statistics.
Year-end numbers are still being calculated, but they’re expected to come in at over 16 million foreign tourists in 2013. London & Partners, the official promotional organization for London (who we now know correctly predicted an influx after the Games), is launching a new video campaign to keep building upon the city's current success. “The London Story” will star locals and celebrities like Gordon Ramsay, Joanna Lumley and Mayor Boris Johnson revealing what they love about calling London home.
Mayor Johnson explains, "With so many fascinating museums, the best theater scene in the world, more green space than any other European city, numerous top sporting venues, a low crime rate and much else besides, it is no wonder that people from all over the globe are flocking to London in record numbers. These incredible figures prove that London is without doubt the greatest city on the planet."
