Currently in Copenhagen, only a handful of Michelin Stars have been given out to fifteen restaurants. Of those fifteen, only one hotel restaurant has been given the prestigious star-rating. Headed by Executive Chef Ronny Emborg, Marchal received its star on March 12, 2014 following a 2.5-year renovation that has paid off better than they could have ever expected.
Located at the luxurious Hotel d'Angleterre in the middle of Copenhagen's city center, Marchal offers unique French-Nordic fusion cuisine exquisitely and expertly conceived by Emborg. The efforts put into the restaurant by management and staff have turned the location into a must-visit hotspot for locals and travelers alike, and the Michelin Star (which is Emborg's second—the first being at the restaurant AOC), is putting the 31-year-old chef on a possible fast track to international stardom in the culinary community.
Hotel d'Angleterre General Manager Lucas Johansson notes that, "Ronny Emborg is one of the most talented chefs in the country and his work in the kitchen is impressive, to put it mildly. Ronny and his team fully deserve their star."
Considering Emborg's passion and creativity for his craft, we wouldn't be surprised to see more Michelin-Star notoriety over the years to come. Foodies, if you were looking for a place to stay in Copenhagen anytime soon, it looks like Hotel d'Angleterre just solidified itself as your only logical choice until another hotel can offer something as good as Marchal.
