Admirers of hair guru José Eber can now hear those famous words, “Shake your head, dahling!” at Eber’s salon at the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara. Eber is one of the world’s most recognized hairstylists and has tended to Hollywood’s most famous tresses for four decades. He's now partnered with Four Seasons to open his eponymous salon at the iconic oceanfront property.
In collaboration with the hotel's owner Ty Warner, the 1,000-square-foot space near the resort’s lobby has been transformed into an oasis where guests can enjoy the ultimate in modern luxury and service. The salon’s design is heavily inspired by the original location in Beverly Hills, which was in turn inspired by Eber’s No. 1 client, Elizabeth Taylor. The front desk is handmade from antique mirrors in the same Art Deco-style conceived by designer Waldo Fernandez for Eber’s flagship salon.
The softly-lit space features Chinoiserie wall panels, charcoal wood floors, windows looking onto the garden terrace, and a blown-glass chandelier created by acclaimed artist Dale Chihuly. Twelve work stations have handmade tabletops inlaid with cracked glass, lighted oval mirrors, and Italian swivel chairs. The overall result is a welcoming, residential feel balanced by sleek design and stylish accents, such as the pop of a cushy leopard print chair or a single blue orchid.
Eber himself will be personally available for both haircuts and consultations on a regular basis. Whether with the master-stylist or his top notch staff, you'll be in good hands. Just sit back in one of the customizable, massaging shampoo stations and choose from the salon’s menu of services, including haircuts, color and highlights, blowdrys and styling or up-dos. While being styled, guests can order salon service from the resort’s food and bar menus, and can extend visits by booking beauty services and treatments in tandem with the resort’s award-winning ocean view spa.
Professional makeup application, makeup lessons, lash application and brow shaping are also available. The salon will soon feature the José Eber signature line of products and professional tools, including Eber’s nothing-short-of-miraculous Infared Hair Dryer which reduces drying time in half while protecting and cleansing the hair.
