Kyoto, Japan recently saw the opening of what is being claimed to be its "first truly international luxury hotel and Japan's first urban resort" with The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto being added to the stellar chain's lineup of resorts.
Having been to Kyoto a number of times myself, the opening of the hotel makes the prospect of heading back to the deceptively peaceful city that much more appealing. As noted by President and COO of The Ritz-Carlton Herve Humler, "I believe this hotel offers a timeless window to Japan and complements perfectly 85 other Ritz-Carlton properties around the globe." If the substance of his claim holds any truth, this resort could (and should) quickly become one of the brand's most beloved properties.
Situated on the Kamogawa (Kamo River) that runs through Kyoto, guests will be able to fully embrace the relaxation and precision of Japanese traditions while enjoying the celebrated and unique surroundings of its urban cities. For those who want even more of the best of both worlds, staying in Kyoto also means a short trip by car or train to Osaka and countless attractions can be found in and between both of these excellent cities.
The guestrooms and suites were crafted with the traditional aesthetics of the region in mind and are adorned with patterns and materials created by local artisans. Zen rock gardens and a four-story waterfall inside the hotel have been implemented to pay homage to the area's culture.
Beyond the posh suites, rooms and views, the Ritz offers much in the way of gourmet dining through two restaurants: Mizuki and La Locanda. Likewise, the resort is collaborating with Pierre Herme Paris to provide his gastronomically delightful creations to the property's hosted events and restaurants. And, as they have become a staple in luxury spas, the location is home to what could arguably be the most peaceful day spa in Kyoto.
Close to contemporary shopping, luxe boutiques, peaceful gardens, historic sites, family fun and a range of entertainment options, this is one Ritz-Carlton that can really seem to offer practically anything a traveler would want from a vacation.
